Exposure Therapy
Exposure therapy is a component or type of cognitive behavioral therapy used for anxiety disorders. It refers to the practice of systematically confronting the thoughts, situations, images, objects, and triggers that make the patient anxious and provoke obsessions in OCD while not performing a compulsion. Similarly, exposure therapy for PTSD utilizes script-driven imagery to confront the traumatic memories that are at the core of the complex acute and chronic disabling condition. Dr. Tendler and his staff have a lot of experience systematically designing and taking treatment-resistant patients through exposures and assigning them homework that they can continue at home.
